Disaster Relief Efforts

Rooted In Love: Disaster Relief Grantmaking Partners

The St. Joseph Community Partnership Fund (Fund) has prioritized disaster grantmaking since its establishment. Acting on Providence’s behalf, we actively address humanitarian crises stemming from natural disasters and human-made emergencies. Whether it be hurricanes, earthquakes, wars, or armed conflicts, these events cause loss of life, infrastructure damage, and economic repercussions, leaving communities vulnerable. Through proactive and responsive grantmaking, we aim to tackle the poverty and suffering that often ensue after catastrophic events.

Recognizing the challenge of swiftly channeling funds to areas in need during a disaster, we extend support to well-vetted and reliable US-based disaster relief nonprofit partners. These partners consistently demonstrate regional, national, and global responsiveness to disasters. Their endeavors align with Catholic social teachings, emphasizing care for the poor and vulnerable, solidarity with those affected by disasters, and a commitment to upholding the life and dignity of every human person.

Our go-to partners are Catholic Relief Services, Center for Disaster Philanthropy, and Catholic Charities USA.

  • Catholic Relief Services assists the poor and vulnerable worldwide. They promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting disease and poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies.
  • Center for Disaster Philanthropy mobilizes philanthropy to strengthen the ability of communities to withstand disasters and recover equitably when they occur.
  • Catholic Charities USA helps people of all faiths struggling with poverty and other complex issues through advocacy and disaster relief programs.
