Rooted in Love: Partnering with OC Grantmakers for Community Equity

At the heart of philanthropy is the power of collaboration, and Orange County Grantmakers (OCG) exemplifies this in every way. Like the St. Joseph Fund (SJF), OCG believes in the transformative power of community partnerships. Since its founding in 2006, OCG has fostered many partnerships with local philanthropists and nonprofits, working toward a shared vision of equity for the most impacted communities. OCG is vital in creating spaces where education and community engagement intersect to drive change.

Their work advancing strategic alignment, cultivating leadership, and promoting learning among nonprofits is rooted in love and commitment to building equitable communities. They host annual summits, gatherings for funder members, nonprofits, and community leaders for a day of listening and learning, with panels hosted by industry experts. In addition to the annual summits, OCG offers several networking opportunities, member forums, issue tables, and learning groups throughout the year.

We are proud to partner with OCG on their Community Programming series “Beyond Equity.” This series builds upon OCG’s Equity Strategic Plan and the “Beyond Equity: Seeking Liberation, Autonomy and Justice in Orange County” report that SJF and the California Endowment co-created. The Beyond Equity series discusses inequity’s historical and cultural context and the need for systemic change to address its root causes.  With our support, these virtual sessions intend to uplift the experiences of specific communities, cultural groups, and indigenous peoples and provide an opportunity for funders, government agencies, service providers, and other stakeholders to learn together and develop action steps for addressing inequity.
